In a residential community, Akuvox combines the entrance station (with keypad, card or facial recognition), monitors or the app in each home, readers in the garage and common areas, lift control by floor and cloud management of residents. The property manager adds and removes residents and tenants without changing locks or copying keys.
What does a community project include?
| Point | Usual equipment | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Entrance | Station with directory and keypad or facial recognition | Calling homes and keyless opening |
| Homes | Indoor monitor or app | Answering and opening |
| Garage and common areas | Access terminals and door controller | Card, code or phone |
| Lifts | Lift controller | Restricting floors and calling the lift |
| Car park or storage rooms | Emergency intercom | Raising the alarm in unstaffed areas |
| Management | Cloud management or own server | Adding, removing, permissions and notices |
How does lift control work?
Akuvox’s IP lift controller means a visitor can only go to the floor of the home that let them in, and the resident can call the lift to the ground floor when opening the entrance. It requires coordination with the lift maintenance company, which connects the controller to the lift control panel.
What about facial recognition?
Some Akuvox stations open by facial recognition with liveness detection, to make spoofing with a photo harder. It is convenient, but it is biometric data: the community needs a legal basis, must inform residents and must offer another means of access to anyone who does not want to register. We always propose it as an option, never as the only means.
What does the residents’ meeting decide, and what happens next?
- Scope: entrance only, or also garage, common areas and lifts.
- Accepted ways to open and whether there will be facial recognition.
- Who manages additions and removals: the property manager, a caretaker or an outside company.
- Whether to use the manufacturer’s cloud, with its subscription, or an own server.
- Installation schedule by stairwell and notice to residents.
