Shelly device installation
We install the full Shelly range in Valencia to automate existing homes and businesses without building work: modules fit behind your current switches, in the consumer unit or in the blind box, and are controlled from the usual switch, your phone, a voice assistant or a home automation system.
Domotica Valencia installs and configures Shelly devices: relays with and without neutral, blind control, dimmers, plugs, BLU and WiFi sensors, energy meters and the Pro range for consumer units. We survey the wiring, fit the modules without chasing walls, prepare the network and integrate everything with the app, Matter or Home Assistant.
Who it is for

What Shelly can automate without building work
- Lighting: from the existing switch, phone, schedules, sensors or scenes.
- Motorised blinds and awnings: up, down and position, by schedule or sun.
- Electric water heater, pumps, heaters or pool pump: scheduling and energy control.
- Plugs: switch off standby appliances and see what each one uses.
- Alerts: water leak, door or window left open, high temperature in a room.
- Whole-home consumption and solar production, from the consumer unit.
Shelly ranges we install
| Range | What it does | Where it is installed |
|---|---|---|
| Relays (1, 1PM, 2PM and Mini) | Lighting, blinds and appliances; PM models measure power. | Switch, socket or junction box. |
| No-neutral relays (1L, 2L) | Lighting in older wiring with no neutral in the box. | Switch box; with a bypass if the load is small. |
| Dimmers | Dim dimmable LED fittings. | Switch box. |
| Plugs | Control and measure appliances without touching the wiring. | Existing socket. |
| Sensors (BLU and WiFi) | Doors, windows, motion, temperature, humidity, water, smoke. | No cables: battery or own supply. |
| Pro range | Several circuits, blinds and metering from the consumer unit. | DIN rail in the consumer unit. |
| Energy meters (EM and Pro 3EM) | Whole-home use, single or three-phase, and solar self-consumption. | Consumer unit, with current clamps. |
| Wall displays | Room control, thermostat and scenes. | Switch box. |
WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Matter and Z-Wave
Current Shelly generations combine several protocols in one device: WiFi and Bluetooth on relays, plugs and meters and, on the latest (Gen4) models, Zigbee and Matter too. The Shelly Wave range uses Z-Wave and Shelly BLU sensors use Bluetooth Low Energy.
We choose the protocol for each home: WiFi where the network covers the whole house well; Zigbee or Z-Wave for mesh networks with many devices or where WiFi does not reach; Matter when you want to control everything from Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa without depending on one brand.
Local control, no cloud dependency
- Devices work on the home network even if the internet goes down: switches, schedules and local automations keep running.
- They can be used with the Shelly app, voice assistants or through Matter.
- They integrate locally with Home Assistant and other systems via HTTP, WebSocket or MQTT.
- If a device loses connection, the physical switch still turns the light on and off.
A properly done installation
- We check the depth of every box and whether there is a neutral before choosing the model.
- Electrical work with the circuit isolated, in line with Spanish low-voltage regulations (REBT), respecting each circuit’s protection.
- Prepared network: enough WiFi coverage, reserved addresses and, where useful, a separate network for smart devices.
- Updated firmware, changed passwords and secure remote access.
- Documentation: which module is in each box and what it controls, for future expansion.
Frequently asked questions
Does installing Shelly require building work?
No. Modules fit behind existing switches, in the consumer unit or in the blind box, using the current wiring. The box just needs enough space.
What if the switch box has no neutral?
There are no-neutral lighting models (Shelly 1L and 2L) and dimmers that can work without it, with some limitations. We check the wiring on the visit and propose the right option.
Does it work if the internet goes down?
Yes. Switches, schedules and local automations keep working at home. What you lose while offline is control from outside.
Shelly or a wired system such as KNX?
Shelly suits existing homes, with no building work and a contained budget. In new builds or full renovations, a wired system such as KNX or Loxone offers more scope and long-term reliability. They can also be combined.
