Smart greenhouses and plant nurseries

We automate climate, irrigation, fertigation and security in nurseries, greenhouses and commercial vegetable plots, so crops stay in the conditions you set and you are alerted when something goes off track.

In short

Domotica Valencia installs and programs nursery and greenhouse automation: temperature, humidity, CO₂ and radiation sensors, vent opening, fans, misting, shade screens, heating, zoned irrigation driven by substrate moisture, fertigation with EC and pH control, alarms and data logging, controlled from your phone. Crop setpoints are set by you or your agronomist.

Who it is for

  • Ornamental and vegetable plant nurseries
  • Greenhouses and seedling growers
  • Commercial vegetable plots and small farms
  • Garden centres with a growing area

What is included

01

Climate control

Vents, fans, cooling, heating and screens by temperature, humidity and VPD.

02

Misting

Fog pulses for rooting cuttings and to bring temperatures down in summer.

03

Zoned irrigation

Valves, pumps and flow meters, by schedule, radiation or substrate moisture.

04

Fertigation

Dosing with in-line EC and pH probes and alerts when out of range.

05

Alarms and logging

Frost, heat, pump failure, power cut or low tank alerts, plus data history.

06

Security and access

Cameras, alarm and site access control, even with no fixed line.

ClimateTemperature and humidity probes, CO₂, outdoor wind, rain and radiation stationOpen roof vents above the temperature setpoint and close them in strong wind or rain.
Ventilation and coolingCirculation fans, extractors and evaporative padsStart extractors and cooling in stages as the temperature rises.
HumidityHigh-pressure misting nozzles and valvesMist in short pulses when vapour pressure deficit exceeds the target in the cuttings area.
Shading and screensShade and thermal screen motorsDeploy shading in high radiation and the thermal screen at dusk in winter.
HeatingWarm-air heaters, bench heating and heat matsKeep substrate temperature in seedling areas and warn of frost risk.
IrrigationControllers, zone valves, pumps, flow meters and moisture probesWater each zone by substrate moisture or accumulated radiation, and alert if the flow does not add up.
FertigationDosing pumps or injectors, EC and pH probes, solution tanksKeep solution EC and pH in the set range and stop irrigation if they spike.
Grow lightingLED fixtures and photoperiod controlExtend daylight hours in winter with per-zone schedules.
Water and tanksLevel and pressure sensorsAlert on low tank and stop the pump before it runs dry.

SecurityCameras, alarm and access controlWatch the site and get alerts of intrusion or doors left open out of hours.

Illustrative example: a day in an automated greenhouse

This example is not a specific client: it shows how the systems fit together in a cuttings greenhouse with four irrigation zones.

  • At dawn the thermal screen opens and heating drops to the day setpoint.
  • As the inside temperature rises, vents open in steps; if the anemometer detects strong wind, they close to a safe position.
  • In the rooting area, misting runs in short pulses to keep vapour pressure deficit at the value set by the agronomist.
  • In high radiation the shade screen deploys and cooling starts if needed.
  • Each zone is watered when its substrate probe drops below the threshold, with a daily limit and a minimum pause between cycles.
  • Fertigation adjusts dosing to hold EC and pH; if a probe reads out of range, irrigation stops and an alert is sent.
  • At night the thermal screen deploys and, if the temperature falls below the frost threshold, an alarm reaches your phone.

Connectivity on the farm

A greenhouse is usually far from the router. Depending on distance and terrain, we link buildings and huts with point-to-point wireless links or cable, add outdoor WiFi where needed and use long-range radio sensors, such as LoRaWAN, for probes spread across the field. Where there is no fixed line, the connection can be 4G or satellite.

It keeps working if the internet fails

  • Climate and irrigation control runs on local equipment, not in the cloud.
  • Backup power for the controller and communications.
  • Alerts through several paths, with a backup SIM if the main connection drops.
  • History of temperatures, irrigation and consumption, useful to review incidents and support farm records.

How we work

  • Site visit: crops, structure, existing motors and panels, water and connectivity.
  • Phased proposal, starting with what saves the most risk or work: usually alarms and irrigation.
  • Installation of the control panel, probes and actuators, with power wiring done to regulations.
  • Programming with the setpoints given by you or your crop adviser.
  • Training, fine-tuning during the first weeks and maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

Do you decide temperatures and irrigation?

No. We install and program the system; climate, irrigation and fertigation setpoints are defined by you or your agronomist, and the system keeps to them.

Can a greenhouse that already has motors and a controller be automated?

Often yes: vent, screen or pump motors are driven from a control panel with relays and contactors. We check it on the visit.

Can I start with just one part?

Yes. It is common to start with alarms and irrigation, then add climate or fertigation on the same installation.

What if power or internet goes down?

Control runs locally and can have backup power. Alarms can be sent through an alternative path, such as a SIM, to tell you about the outage.
