Open standard vs proprietary system
An open standard such as KNX lets you combine devices from many manufacturers and have the installation maintained by different integrators over the years.
A single-manufacturer system such as Loxone offers tight integration of hardware, software and app. Both approaches are valid; the choice depends on the project.
