Akuvox Android monitors can run a home control app, so the intercom screen also controls lights and climate. akubela panels go further: they are wall-mounted touch screens with a Zigbee 3.0 gateway built into many models, controlling lights, blinds, locks and sensors, and there are KNX-compatible versions.
What options are there?
| Option | What it does | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Akuvox Android monitor | Intercom and a home control app on the same screen | There is already a home automation system with a compatible app |
| akubela HyPanel | Wall screen with a Zigbee gateway for devices in the home | New, wireless home automation |
| akubela panel, KNX version | Control screen on a KNX installation | Home with KNX |
| akubela gateway | Brings Zigbee devices together without a screen | Control from the phone only |
What is Zigbee and why does it matter?
Zigbee is a low-power wireless protocol designed for home automation. Devices form a mesh: each mains-powered device repeats the signal for the next. It lets you add sensors, switches, plugs and blind motors without running cable, and version 3.0 improves compatibility between manufacturers.
What can be controlled?
- Lights and dimmers through Zigbee switches and modules.
- Motorised blinds and curtains.
- The brand’s own smart locks.
- Door, motion, temperature or water leak sensors.
- Scenes combining several actions, for example when leaving home.
- The video intercom call, on the same screen.
What should be checked first?
- Which specific model has a Zigbee gateway: not all panels and monitors include one.
- That the chosen Zigbee devices have been tested with the gateway.
- How many devices the gateway supports and coverage across the home.
- Whether local operation or the manufacturer’s cloud is preferred.
- Whether the home has or will have KNX, the most durable wired option.
