JUNG HOME or KNX: which system to choose

JUNG offers two routes to automate a home with its switches. They share the design, but install and grow very differently.

Domotica Valencia · Updated:

In short

KNX is a wired bus system, open to hundreds of manufacturers and designed for complete installations in new builds or full refurbishments. JUNG HOME works over Bluetooth Mesh radio in existing switch boxes and is set up with an app, so it suits refurbishments and occupied homes. For a whole, expandable home, KNX; to automate without building work, JUNG HOME.

When to choose each

  • New build or full refurbishment with many functions: KNX.
  • Occupied flat or partial refurbishment without chasing walls: JUNG HOME.
  • Office building or hotel: KNX, for scale and integration with other systems.
  • Extending into an attic, garage or annex without running the bus: JUNG HOME; with the gateway it can also appear in the Smart Visu Server.

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine both?

Yes. Through the JUNG HOME gateway and the Smart Visu Server, JUNG HOME devices can be controlled alongside a KNX installation, for example in an extension.

Does the design differ?

No. Both systems use the same JUNG switch ranges, so the look is the same.
